Home MenuSection Street Force Main Project
The Section Street Force Main Project is a major upgrade to Fairhope’s sewer infrastructure, designed to improve flow capacity and reduce the risk of future backups. Construction will take place with intermittent road closures between Section Street and Twin Beech Road until the end of 2025. This investment is part of our broader commitment to reliable, long-term service — in fact, Fairhope has invested $44 million this year in water and wastewater improvements across the city. Current Progress:
Contractors are nearing completion with the Section Street Force Main Project. Paving operations will begin 11/10 at the Fels Avenue/S. Church Street intersection to the Nichols Avenue/S. Section intersection. Our contractors expect the milling to take 2 days and the paving to take 1 day with the Fels/Avenue/S. Church Street intersection opening back up following the paving. Section Street will be paved one lane at a time to minimize disruption, and flaggers will be in place for traffic.
Once completed, contractors will mill and pave Nichols Avenue to just south of Summer Lane on S. Section Street. This is estimated to take 2 days. This will also be completed one lane at a time with the exception of a full temporary closure at Dogwood Avenue due to the trench line being in the middle of the street.
We appreciate your patience during construction, and you can follow along with real-time progress of the project both here and on our social media channels.
