A Century of Service

Fairhope’s Water Department has been serving the community since 1916, when a “modern” steel water tower was behind City Hall—now home to the Fairhope Museum of History. Before that, since the town’s founding in 1894, residents relied on a central town pump located at the intersection of Fairhope Avenue and Section Street.

Today, Fairhope operates the largest municipal water system in Baldwin County, with nearly 20,000 service connections serving an estimated 40,000 residents.

• Five water towers provide 6.6 million gallons of total storage
• Eleven wells draw from a deep underground aquifer, supplying an average of 6,108,595 gallons per day
• The Water and Sewer Department maintains 65 lift stations and one wastewater treatment facility

The administrative offices for Fairhope's Water and Sewer Department are located at the Public Utilities warehouse at 555 S. Section Street. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Our services operate seven days a week, 365 days a year, ensuring uninterrupted support for our community.

For new service connections or reconnections, please visit the Meter Department at City Hall, 161 North Section Street. City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can reach the Meter Department by calling (251) 928-2136.
