At Fairhope Public Utilities, we love sharing what we do with the next generation. From powering homes to delivering clean water, our work touches every part of daily life — and we’re excited to show students how it all happens!
Bucket Truck Visits
Our electric crews will roll up in a real bucket truck so students can see the big equipment we use to keep the lights on. It’s a hands-on way to learn about electricity, safety, and the people who help power our community.
Meet Pete the Pelican
Pete isn’t just our mascot — he’s a feathered friend on a mission to make learning fun! Pete brings energy and excitement to classrooms, teaching kids about power, safety, and the importance of utilities in their everyday lives.
Natural Gas Safety Presentations
In the classroom, Pete takes the lead on teaching students how to recognize the signs of a natural gas leak — from smells to sounds to sights. From high in the sky, Pete keeps watch, then swoops down to show how to recognize dangers and what to do to stay safe. Students learn how natural gas is used every day and why safety matters.
Water Education
Where does our water come from? How do we keep it clean? And why is conservation important? Our team walks students through the water cycle and simple ways they can help protect this vital resource.
