The Institute for Business and Home Safety (IBHS) created the FORTIFIED Home™ program to help strengthen homes from hurricanes, high winds, hail, and severe thunderstorms. Protect your home from natural disasters by using FORTIFIED Home construction standards and methods. This Nationally recognized program provides code plus construction methods and provides certifications (Gold, Silver, or Bronze levels) that provide MADATORY insurance reductions ranging from 20% to 50% on your homeowners wind insurance policy. These insurance reductions have been mandated by the Alabama Department of Insurance for achieving Gold, Silver, or Bronze certifications for your construction project. The City of Fairhope Construction Code Supplement requires that all new construction meet the requirements of Fortified Gold standards except for the required 3rd party inspections by an IBHS Fortified Evaluator. A link to find a local Fortified Service Provider/Evaluator is provide below. |
