CITY OF FAIRHOPE LAUNCHES NEIGHBORHOOD BRIDGES
FAIRHOPE, Alabama – Fairhope’s Neighborhood Bridges initiative is off and running with a singular goal of offering residents and easy opportunity to fill unmet community needs.
Needs are posted by trusted advocates within the community and published on www.neighborhoodbridges.org/community/fairhope-al. Interested citizens can claim and fill those needs and drop off at a local drop-off location. The filled needs will then be delivered to the advocates for distribution.
“In a community as prosperous and giving as Fairhope, there’s no reason why anyone in our area should go without,” said Mayor Karin Wilson. “Stemming from a 2017 grant-funded community engagement study of the South Fairhope area, we realized that there could be an easy way to meet simple needs. As a lifelong resident of Fairhope, it is so important to me to help our residents, both those with needs and those who want to connect and fill those needs. With the incredible growth rate we’ve experienced in the past 10 years, we know that the needs have grown along with our population. I am thankful for the many organizations that exist in our community and am proud to help bring this platform to the table as a way to supplement the great work they are already doing.”
WHAT YOU CAN DO
In this time of temporary closures throughout the City, the James P. Nix Center, in cooperation with city leaders, will continue to serve the community through the City’s existing Neighborhood Bridges network.
Nix Center members as well as others can email Ari.Tillman@FairhopeAL.gov with needs that will then be posted on https://www.neighborhoodbridges.org/community/fairhope-al. This is an effort to connect seniors with citizens able to meet those needs by bridging kindness in our community.
Neighborhood Bridges Fairhope was started in December 2019. The online platform offers residents an easy opportunity to fill unmet needs with the kindness that abounds in the community. Needs are posted by trusted advocates within the community and published on www.neighborhoodbridges.org/community/fairhope-al.
