The City of Fairhope is proud to announce that City Clerk Lisa Hanks has been named Municipal Clerk of the Year for the State of Alabama, a prestigious honor recognizing excellence in municipal government.

Hanks received the award at the Alabama Association of Municipal Clerks and Administrators (AAMCA) Annual Conference. She was nominated by District VIII of AAMCA, which represents municipal clerks from Baldwin, Mobile, Washington, and Escambia Counties. District VIII is one of 13 districts across the state, with each district selecting one municipal clerk as its nominee. A statewide Clerk of the Year Committee then chooses the recipient from among those nominees.

This recognition reflects Hanks' outstanding leadership, professionalism, and dedication to serving both the City of Fairhope and the municipal clerk profession.

Throughout her career, Hanks has remained committed to professional growth and service. She earned her Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation in 2010 and her Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation in 2011. She has also served in numerous leadership roles within AAMCA, including Vice President and President of District VIII, as well as Treasurer, Secretary, President-Elect, and President of the statewide organization.

Hanks' commitment to municipal government extends beyond Fairhope, as she has spent years mentoring fellow clerks, supporting professional development, and helping strengthen municipal government throughout Alabama.
