Fairhope/Point Clear Community Foundation Contributes $50,000 to City of Fairhope to Create “Foundation Park”
FAIRHOPE, AL —October 14, 2025— The Fairhope/Point Clear Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama, presented a $50,000 contribution from the Fairhope/Point Clear Community Fund to the City of Fairhope. This is the first contribution that will support the construction of “Foundation Park,” a new public park and splash pad. The park will occupy a 1.6-acre lot at the historic Anna T. Jeanes School property, located at the intersection of Twin Beech Road and Section Street. “Foundation Park” will be crucial in providing equitable access to recreational and developmental opportunities for all youth in Fairhope, fostering a healthier and more engaged community overall.
“We are excited to partner with the Fairhope/Point Clear Community Foundation on Foundation Park,” said Mayor Sherry Sullivan. “It will be a great addition to our park system and the south Fairhope community.”
Rebecca Byrne, President and CEO of The Community Foundation of South Alabama, presented the check at the City Council meeting on October 13. “We’re eager to kickstart Foundation Park,” Byrne said. “This partnership with the City of Fairhope embodies our mission to create lasting impact and improve the quality of life for local residents.”
The park will be a tangible symbol of community, joy, and belonging, impacting not just local youth but the boarder Fairhope community. All gifts will help bring the splash pad and park to life today and secure a foundation for future park improvements and community grants. Donations to the Fairhope/Point Clear Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama, are tax-deductible. To donate, visit fairhopepointclearcommunityfoundation.org. About the Fairhope/Point Clear Community Foundation
By working with The Community Foundation of South Alabama, an affiliate can focus on raising funds and deciding charitable use for the income of the community fund while relying on the parent Foundation to handle the administration, investment and required daily tasks. Through a concerted grant-making effort, the effects of a community fund can be felt for generations to come. An advisory committee of Fairhope and Point Clear residents makes recommendations about how the charitable dollars are spent, and The Community Foundation of South Alabama bears the legal responsibility to ensure that the funds are then used in compliance with donor intent.
The Fairhope/Point Clear Community Foundation was founded in 2018 by a group of Fairhope and Point Clear citizens. As an affiliate of the Community Foundation of South Alabama, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, we accept a wide variety of tax-deductible contributions, such as cash, appreciated stocks, real estate or other assets.
