City of Fairhope to Celebrate Grand Opening of Flying Creek Nature Preserve
FAIRHOPE, AL — The City of Fairhope is proud to announce the grand opening of Flying Creek Nature Preserve, a stunning 108-acre public space dedicated to conservation, outdoor recreation, and environmental education. The community is invited to join the celebration on Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Located in the heart of Fairhope and nestled along Fly Creek, the preserve offers a peaceful retreat with scenic hiking trails, a butterfly garden, and a nature center, with bike trails coming soon. During the grand opening, guests can enjoy guided trail tours, kids’ activities, and a special ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony.
“We’re so excited to share what we’ve been working on,” said Mayor Sherry Sullivan. “Flying Creek Nature Preserve is more than just a park—it’s a long-term investment in our environment and in the health and well-being of our community.”
The Flying Creek Nature Preserve was made possible through funding from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) via the Gulf of Mexico Energy and Security Act (GOMESA), supporting environmental restoration and preservation across coastal Alabama.
