Quail Creek to host Junior Golf Clinics
Quail Creek Golf Course kicks off its Junior Golf Summer Clinic series in June.
“Kids are the future of Quail Creek,” said PGA Head Pro Jeff Marks. “We’re offering these classes not only as an added amenity for families, but also so they can introduce their kids to a sport they can play their entire life.”
The four-session clinics, which start June 24th, are designed for beginner to advanced skill levels.
“Very often the kids are brand new,” Marks said. “Sometimes they’ve taken some lessons from me or somebody else in the past.”
The hour-long sessions provide a learning experience at a level the children can handle. Participants move through stations and cover topics such as proper fundamentals, pre-shot routine, irons and woods, how to gain effortless distance, short game and more. Age-appropriate golf club rentals are complimentary as are range balls, cold beverages and prizes.
“We have fun games to keep it interesting,” Marks said. “The prizes we offer keep it fun and competitive, but friendly, for the kids. It keeps it very interesting and not boring for the hour.”
The effects of the lessons can make a difference to the whole family.
“Very often it encourages mom and dad,” Marks said. “Often after the clinics we’ll offer a family session for mom, dad and children to come out and continue.”
With renovations on the clubhouse complete, including a 15-foot patio extension, Quail Creek is making it easy to enjoy the experience.
“We’re trying to make it more comfortable,” Marks said. “We have brand new patio furniture that makes it conducive to relaxing before or after a round of golf, but you don’t even need to come here for golf. We have a lot of people who come here for lunch and to sit on the patio. It’s a community.”
Lessons will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. June 24, July 1, 8 and 15. Cost is $99 for the clinic. For more information, call 251-990-0240.
